I have bad influenza and a chest infection but feel guilty, should I be "just getting on with it"?

Started coughing on Monday night, got worse through Tuesday and have been in bed since yesterday really really ill. I've never had flu before and it's horrific.

DS (16 months) went to the childminder yesterday and today and looks like he will have to go tomorrow as well. I feel really guilty about this but I just don't think I could look after him properly whilst I feel like this.

I spoke to my mum earlier and she said she's been to work with flu, which made me feel really shit and like she thinks I should just get on with it.

I feel so miserable now on top of everything else, and to make things worse we were supposed to be having a Christmas party on Saturday night and looks like we might have to call that off as well.

if you have flu its impossible to work. flu really does kill you.

i had a really bad head cold recently, wasnt bad enough to be flu, but it still knocked me out for almost 2 weeks. am only just feeling better.

Thank you. It has killed me - wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't combined with this chest infection as well! I just feel terrible as I saw my son for about 2 minutes yesterday, and he was a bit teary yesterday and today when DP dropped him at the childminder's, which is quite unusual for him. My mum makes me feel a bit guilty as she would probably go to work if she had just lost an arm in an accident and she's always been supermum, worked full time, raised 3 kids and the house was always tidy. I've lost my job and my house is rarely tidy so I just feel like such a failure in comparison. I'm sure she thinks I should just be looking after him, but I'm really worried he'll catch it off me as well, which would be relly bad news as he's so young.

THanks for the replies.
