DD has got a cold, she is really bunged up and keeps wakign herself up as unable to breathe through her nose.
Have plugged in the calpol humidifier thingy, but i think the main prob is that she is flat as opposed to having a raised head- she breathes better when i am cradling her. I have put a book under each foot of her cot at teh head end which hasnt really made a great deal of difference. Think i also read someweher about putting a towel under the mattress.....presumably at top of cot.
How many towle thicknesses should there be? should it be where her head is or right at the top of the cot bed? Oh and does it work?!!

How old is she? If older than 3 months, then get yourself some Calcold tomorrow. It's great. It has a decongestant in it.

For tonight, I would "step" the towels from middle of the cot towards the head to create an incline. It should help.

Depending on age of baby and whether you feel comfortable with it, she may be happier on her tummy or side (with a rolled up hand towel either side for support) for tonight.

bmttmg (working out those initials was surprisingly hard - think i must be really tired!)

Shes 6months so will try your suggestion re. calcold.
Ok - step the towels.....?! do you mean...gradually increase the thickness of the towls as i get further from her head to the head of the cot? How thick are we talking - a towel folded into quarters....or?? sorry for all the questions....if i get her out of the cot to add towels will really disturb , so want to get it right first time!!
Not sure how i feel about tummy/side - think that would have to be last resort

Hi I think just one big towel, rolled and placed at top under mattress.
You don't want her slipping to the bottom if too much incline!
Make sure she's in a babygrobag for same reason (slipping under cover).
Take care.
Humidifier will help and in a couple of hours her breathing should be better.

awwwwwwww!
Don't cry!!!!!
She'll get better for sure but I don't garantee you'll get a full night's sleep! Just be very lazy tomorrow and have a lie in when she has her naps.
You have to consider the amount of sleep you get in the long run, not just the now and then. No one can survive those first few month otherwise!
night night.
