I had a root canal on my tooth september this year and a month later had an infection which cleared up with antibiotics. I have now got another infection in my tooth but this time it feels alot worse than before.

Its really aching, throbbing etc. I am on 500 mg antibiotics which i took my first one friday night (7th Dec). So today is day four and there is no change. when should it be feeling better.

Hope someome can help because I really hurt.

think you should book to go back in case it needs draining shouldnt be having so many problems maybe they need to make sure all was cleared properly and nothing left causing the pain

would definatly book to see them if in so much pain

have you tried oil of cloves to help with pain?

Call dentist. Should have been some improvement by day 4 if on right dose/antibiotic.

if it is an abcess the only way it will heal properly is to have the tooth removed.

i am practically an expert on dental absesses , they where the bain of my life for many many years, NWD the tooth doesnt nessecarily need removing, but to the OP u do need to go back to the dentist asap as u should of seen an improvment by now, the dentist will most likely need to clean out the canal with dental disenfectant and redo the tooth canal aswell, please dont wait though as absesses can make u very ill

I thought in a root canal surgery, they got rid of all the root so there should be nothing to get infected?
If the dentist has done it badly, you should get it fixed for nothing!
I really sympathise, when I had a tooth infection it had me crying in the street. It was worse pain than giving birth, no exaggeration.

I had root canal treatment today. I would book an appt asap at the dentist. For pain relief you could try anbesol. I think thats what its called. I was just about to type anusol, but thats for another type of pain!! I use this and it is great for temporary pain relief, also paramol pain killers - very strong but good.

in a root canal surgery they take the nerve of the tooth out, clean the tooth canal where the nerve was and then fill it with a rubber nerve so the canal is again enclosed, but really as fara s i know u should be given antibiotics after a root canal because bacteria can get in whilst the dentist has the canal open and then breed etc
