Five-day-old baby with red, angry chin; suggestions to calm skin down?

I suspect this little rash is due to a wool blanket dd had on her for a few hours; have switched back to cotton. Can I use Sudocreme? Other suggestions?

Thanks Cade. Just occured to me rash might be from CONSTANT feeding; milk just in...

A dab of vaseline on their chin just before each breast feed was recommended to me. My DS's chins used to get sore too.

Good to know, jinglebug - I shall have it at the ready!

Have you given it a try yet Alva?

My dd had a rash from biological washing powder - she looks as if she has a 5 o'clock shadow on her newborn photos

wheelsonthebus · 10/12/2007 17:05

sudocrem can be used on the face. or just savlon.

Kamillosan or calendula cream

Hello - have now tried both sudocrem and vaseline (not together!) and it looks a little calmer; thanks for the tips. Figroll - should we be avoiding biological washing powder? have a box of Ecover tablets ordered in error, but won't use them if they aren't good for small people.

My little ones all got a red chin, I think because of all the bf! I always used a dab of sudocreme - def helped.

Davidsmom · 10/12/2007 21:39

Hi,

My LO had an amazingly red chin from BF. We used Lansinoh with great success. And had it to hand after BF!
