Hypotonic - what exactly is it?

The other thread about 'not standing' and a couple of posts within that got me thinking a bit more about this. Can someone please tell me a bit more about this condition and whether for a child who is hypotonic, it would also affect their fine motor skills as well as the gross motor skills?

Thanks

type "hypotonia" into google and it comes up with loads of stuff

It basically means "low muscle tone" and yes it can affect gross and fine motor control
