it could very well just be a burst pile. Or it could be gastroenteritis.

But you do need to go to the doctor and get it checked out, sorry!

SquonkaClaus · 10/12/2007 11:43

the chances are it is a pile, or something else equally innocuous. BUT... get yourself to the doctor as soon as poss (today if you can) just in case.

How old are you? I believe that bowel cancer is incredibly rare if you are under 50 so probably no need to panic at all, but your doc needs to know about this.

I know it will probably be hugely embarrassing, but try not to let it be, your doc will have dealt with waaaaaay worse things and this is too important to mess about with.

good luck and keep us posted.

xx

If the blood is normal red colour, then it is usually nothing to worry about. If it is darker, verging on black, then it could be a bit more worrying, BUT whichever it is just make an appointment to see the GP asap. The fact that you had pain when going to the loo recently does indicate either piles or a small (very common) tear.

oh dear, theres no good can come of speculating on here either - best to find out from the doc, then come on here and get some sympathy, once your mind is at rest.

hope all is well soon for you - must have been quite a scare.

fluffyanimal · 10/12/2007 11:47

If the blood was bright red the chances are it's nothing too serious because that indicates it hasn't been lingering in the bowel or been through the digestive system. Hope this might reassure you - but second everyone else that only a GP visit will really reassure you.

I have a pile and a fissure and at times the toilet looks like a set from Casualty. GP checked me out and said nothing to worry about, prescribed me stuff to soften things up 'til I heal, and that was all there was to it. Really glad I got it checked out - you should call your doc, it'll be fine

HayleyWayley · 10/12/2007 12:37
