Coming off the pill? Did you feel better? Experiences please

So I’ve really been thinking about coming off the mini pill completely. I suffer with quite bad anxiety and mood swings, I’m wondering if the pill could be contributing to this. I’ve heard these wonderful stories about women’s life changing once they stopped, feeling far more energetic, happy, less bloating, less headaches etc. My question to real people on Mumsnet, is this true?

I’ve been on the combined pill since I was 16, and have been on the mini pill for around a year. I’m really coming to a point in my life where I’m unsure if I want these hormones purely so the s*x feels better for my partner! I wouldn’t be looking at any other hormonal methods either, just good old fashioned condoms. My partner is unsure, and the thought is a little daunting for me right now to!

Could I please have your own experiences?

I came off the combined pill about 5yo ago now i think, maybe more. Felt like i was able to pull my head back above the clouds. My anxiety got better aswell. I track my cycle and we do use a condom but at the last minute. Yes, i know theres still a chance of pregnancy but it works for us and ive only ever got pregnant when i intended too. The dr was mortified at my 6week check after DD when i refused contraception and didnt seem to believe that i understood how one gets pregnant after 2 children. Ive done my time on it and i refuse to pump myself full of hormones any longer.

I came off the pill a few weeks ago for this reason! Wanted to see if it would change my mood/anything else about my health. Not noticed anything yet!

The pill never suited me. I just didn't feel myself and my (previously always strong) libido sank through the floor. So I stopped it very early in my twenties.

I then used the coil but lived most of my life after 2 children without contraception as my H chose to have a vasectomy.

Now I'm post menopausal I remember with fondness my mood swings - happy and sad - and amazing sex drive at certain times of the month. I'm sure I would have missed out on so much of that feeling joyful / sad and incredibly alive if I'd stayed on the pill.
