Pain on top of foot

Last week, I wore a pair of new flat shoes. They're pointed toes and by the end of the day, my feet were killing me. The next morning, I noticed that my left foot was really swollen and very painful across the top. The swelling has gone down, but I'm still left with this awful pain that feels it is right in the bone on the top. I can barely put my wellies on as its so bad, but do a lot of walking with the dogs and am getting very fed up with it..........

Anyone else had similar?

Hi, I’m a Podiatrist. I’d recommend resting your foot as much as possible, using an ice pack on top of your foot and taking something like ibruprofen (unless your allergic to it). Have you got any walking shoes you could wear for a bit? Or trainers? Wellies will put pressure on the top of your foot and it’ll take longer to recover. Will lace up shoes, you can loosen them a bit so there’s no pressure on the top of your foot :)

If it gets worse or doesn’t settle down over the next week, I’d book an appointment with a Podiatrist or try and see your GP :)

Thank you so much, that's really helpful.
