I think I had a viral infection, I recovered now a week after I’ve got a sore throat again..

I can’t win and really worried something is up with my immune, I had COVID over a month ago (or around) slow recovery but recovered from it other than a dry cough. After feeling like things were improving I got a sore throat, which hurt to swallow and my cough went to chesty with mucus. This for 2 weeks left me feeling rubbish especially still battling the cough but worse version. Eventually I recovered without antibiotics and just hot honey and sleep. I felt better for days and now today I woke up and one side of my throat has been sore all day. I’m scared I’m getting something else. GPs are overwhelmed but is it possible to pick up another cold after just having? Or something…

Sorry you are feeling rotten op. It is definitely possible to get a secondary infection or catch a cold following another viral illness.

I've had a similar experience to you as has my DH. We both have had a succession of covid-like illnesses which turned out not to be Covid, and DH had an awful bronchial thing for which he needed antibiotics, but they didn't really work so it was obviously viral. And just when we were both recovering, literally less than a week later, we went down with a chesty cough and cold, involving endless coughing at night. Thankfully this one seems to be short-lived!

I never ever get chest related illnesses normally, so I am putting this down to having been locked indoors for eighteen months and we now encountering all the bugs again!

Hope current virus is over quickly and you feel better soon! Flowers

Btw I have started to take some Vit D tablets (with advice of doc) and am taking care with diet; eating a load of broccoli and chillis and chicken broth and having some early nights and I do feel better for it.

Hi, my family have experienced exactly the same thing. 2 non covid viral infections in a row! I have been on/off sick for over a month now, and, for much of this time I have been totally wiped out. Main symptoms have been high temp, sore throat, lost voice and hideous cough. All 3 of us had the same symptoms but I was hit worst. Sorry to hear that you have been going through this too. As the previous poster stated, I have also been taking vit D to support my immune system. I hope you feel better soon.

My guess is that you are having a relapse of original virus. I've been like this since March 20. When I over do it, I'm back to square one over and over again.
