hi everyone, my dd 9 has finally got cp but has around 20 spots only. is this just a mild case or will 100's more appear in next 24 hours? the first spots appeared on thursday evening. she has been very off colour, had v. high temp and headache.
Have stocked up on calomine lotion, piriton, calpol so am prepared and waiting!

I'm pretty sure my dd (2.8) has the same. off-colour all week, and now around 20 spots. Funnily, enough she's completely well in herself now. Here's hoping for no more spots!

from memory I think they can appear for upto a week to ten days, and remain infectious until crusted over (gorgeous eh)

some people only get a few spots or like mine they were everywhere

hope that helps

My dd oly had oe spot, I thik it varies from child to child

DiscoFever · 08/12/2007 11:47

isnt it odd? i imagined for some silly reason that because my dd is a red head she would be really bad with it. fingers crossed though this is as bad it gets for both our dd's. has your dd had high temp too?

My ds has it atm, he has quite a few spots that appeared over a couple of days and then no more appeared. DD had it 2 weeks ago and had it very mildly probably 20-30 spots in all and she was fine in herself. Just a little more tired than usual but not much IYSWIM. DS has lots more spots but I was told he'd get it worse as he got it from dd. Anyway that should be it for the pox in our house(dh and I both had it) so yay to that, as dd is 3.5 and ds is 8 months so got it out the way early on, fingers crossed we don't get it twice

Yes, my dd has been calpoled up all week. We thought it was a throat infection as she was complaining of a sore throat. She's also jumping around like a 'spotty' loon today!

ALOT more spots appeared today some are big and horrible. is it safe to bathe children with cp? or should i just wash her down? am worried water might make more spots come out.

Disco, the spots will come out over a period of 2-5 days, it makes no difference if you bathe or not. I would bath her in warm water with no soap in it, and just pat the spots dry. they should all crust over in about a week, and then she's no longer infectious.
