don't really know what to do. since last couple of weeks have had some, what you might describe as hot flushes, where I have suddenly gone all hot and clammy, seem far more hormonal/emotional than usual, have had tender breasts. I am only 33, but these simptoms equate to the menopause don't they?

I know I should go and see a gp, but tbh am scared of the answer .

erm they also equate with pregnancy any chance you could be up the duff?

BoysAreLikeReindeer · 08/12/2007 10:49

Are you still having periods, tooyoung ?

TwinklyfLightAttendant · 08/12/2007 10:50

It could be stress, thyroid, anything really. Are you worried because of a family history?

tooyoungforthechange · 08/12/2007 10:51

I had a period two weeks ago ledodgy so pg out of the question surely?

I'd do a test just to rule it out . You never know..

foxinsocks · 08/12/2007 10:54

I used to get stuff like that all the time and am not menopausal (had test done). You've probably just got nasty PMT but it's worth going to the doc to put your mind at rest.

foxinsocks · 08/12/2007 10:55

the tender breasts, feeling hot etc. all PMT symptoms too so don't get too anxious yet!

MellowChristmasEveryone · 08/12/2007 11:16

EEk I thought I was alone.

I am 34 and have all these symptoms. The hot and clamminess I have had for around 2 years, I thought it was down to Depo Injections so stopped them.

I have been off depo for around 5/6 months now and still have the breast tenderness, very moody and cannot sleep with anything on at night or wake up saturated, it horrid tbh.

If I collect DS from nursery and talk to anyone, flushes seem to start again, really badly and I end up looking all flustered.

Are you on the pill/depo?

tooyoungforthechange · 08/12/2007 11:32

no, not on the pill or any contraception.

I often have sore boobs pre af, but am only on cd15, so af not due for another two weeks. It was a week ago when i had a major hot spell in bed (lol that sounds suggestive ) so by no means anywhere near pmt iyswim?

Go to your gp. it could be any number of things but sounds like a nasty virus. You should have a blood test to make sure.

foxinsocks · 08/12/2007 11:36

yes, I know what you mean but I find that the sort of symptoms you are talking about came hand in hand with me starting to get PMT iyswim. I also started to feel really nauseous at times (like being pregnant). V odd.

Have you looked at peri-menopause? I'm sure that's what I have.

(My mother had hormone problems and ended up having a hysterectomy in her 30s so that's why I ended up having the hormone test).

HereComeTheGirls · 08/12/2007 19:21

I would do a PG test, I have heard of several people who had at least one period while pregnant, including my mum!!

bubblepop · 08/12/2007 20:16

have your thyroid checked, most definately

Twoddle · 08/12/2007 22:02

Def have your thyroid checked. Otherwise, sounds either like normal hormones are just having a bit of a 'realignment', or as fox suggests, peri-menopause - which can last 20-odd years before menopause is fully complete.

I've had a stressful year, which may explain why, at 29, I had a blood test result suggesting early menopause in the spring. I get night sweats, and come over all hot/nauseous sometimes. Irritable - yes - and tender boobs. Had a repeat test in June, and all was well. My doctor thinks all is fine, but I'd like to keep an eye, just to be on the safe side.

Ask to have your FSH level tested on around day 3 of your cycle, and progesterone on around day 21. These tend to be the indicators for ovarian function.

Am sure it's a hormonal blip/peri-menopause - just get checked out for peace of mind.
