Can a viral infection cause pain further down the throat?

I phoned my GP as have had a chesty cough after COVID and a sore throat like razors, it was the top part of my throat that was the worst when inital swallowing yet now it seems to be a different kind of pain when it gets to the area in the photo, like a tightening/cut feeling :( I just wondered if it should clear once this infection goes?
I guess no GPs but hppe was maybe someone knew or HAD before

I would say that when I recently had Covid, the pain and discomfort mainly sat in that area, lower down.

Speak to your GP if you’re concerned or it doesn’t clear up.
