dp wants to join local very swish gym, costs a LOT each month..i am fat, he is slightly over weight, both of us have parents with weight/health related probs, so i know better eating and excersize WILL help, but at this price and the fact we do absolutely nothing now(although i walk a lot but thats it), would it be worth it, would i be dusting my membership card of this time next year???

fishie, it is very centerparcs, thats what seduced us too..although it is smack bang in the middle of sunny middlesbrough!, so stark wake up call when you step outside

I realy enjoyed the gym for the year or so i was a member (stopped when about 7 months pg). But it was next door to my work, so I went regularly. If I could afford it, I'd rejoin. If you can join for 6 months, I'd go for it. Can you get a friend to join as well and go at the same time?

i didn't go for any of the classes (hate classes) but used the gym and swam, which I could do at any time.

think i will check out this one (posh) and local one(where we normally swim with dp and i did aqua aerobics)..willa sk about joint membership and see both of them..although i already know what dp will say

i am a tad concerned about going, i weigh over 16st and dont do lycra..thank god!, im unfit and may havea heart attack climbing the stairs instead of lift on day one..no on a serious note, my weight, the fact my mum has osteo arthritus(sp), ashema(sp), diabetes etc etc and dp's estranged father had a stroke wuite young(plus dp likes a few pints on weekend, i dont drink) makes me concerned for our health and think i HAVE to do something before its too late

I would also check if a) you get towels (much easier in terms of packing) and b) if they have one of the spin machines for drying your swimming cossie. They are fab

LOL Fishie

Effie, dp will join with me, friends wouldnt join(BF wighs more than me and travels miles to go swimming rather than 'be seen' in our local pool!)
dp and i would go once/twice together and id/hed go once on own?
