Ramipril & hair loss

I've been on Ramipril for about 2.5 years - initially on 1.25mg. I noticed some shedding last autumn, worse than my usual seasonal shed, but put it down to hormones.

My dose was increased to 5mg in February this year and this autumn it is AWFUL. Handfuls every time I wash it and it's getting very thin, particularly on top. So upsetting.

My GP is changing my bp medication (about to start Losartan) as apparently a thing with ACE inhibitors. I had no idea and would have said something months ago had I known.

Has anyone else experienced this? Just wondering how common it is.

Interesting, as I’ve been on Ramipril for about 6 years and feel like I do shed a lot of hair (literally a brush full every time I wash my hair ), but had never attributed it to that. I am peri menopausal, so kind of assumed it was that.

Is it a known side effect?

Gosh, that is interesting! I've been on Ramipril for about seven years, and my hair is definitely a lot thinner (I lose a lot when I wash and brush it), but I'd put it down to menopause too. Never connected it with Ramipril (but that's probably because I never read the leaflets that come with these things either).

I put it down to menopause too... but it has increased so dramatically in the few months since increasing my dosage. Just started on Losartan instead.
