ds's Bowelmovements still causing problems and I think....

that maybe the underlaying issue might not be longterm constipation, but that the constipation is/was more a symptom of another problem.
Here a shortversion of the History....ms never really was keen on doing bm's. And there was/is a lot of staining pants...
he has been on Movicol this past year, which made his bm's softer and to some extent more regular, I suppose....but he is now 5 and well there isn't really that much improvement, not as much as I expected.
I also realised that ms's bm's are thin ( as in thin like worms, lol...rather then like sausages, sorry tmi)and I have started to wonder if the problem is to do with his anal muscles or something like that, i.e. that his anus isn't opening up maybe.
I have made an appointment with my gp and hope we will get a referral to a specialist....just wondering if anyone else maybe has experienced something like this and what it was in the end?
