I first thought it was due to stress, i had been having panic attacks again in the past month or so.

A few yrs back I had v similar symptoms to this.

Thought it was that, because I have been v dwon and stressed.

But today found out my dad's colleague has had it and likened it to being on board a ship for about 4 days. It has the cold /cough with it too. Just feelis like I am not in my own body.

I feel like I have done some sort of rec drug. No way i can drive, so a friends been helping out with school.

I feel a bit woolly headed too and I have had a cold this past few days. My legs didn't feel like my own for a while when I went to pick up DS from school. Like being on board ship as you say. It wore off after 5 minutes but not pleasant. Weird as the cold itself is a bit better today.

Could partly being worn down and tired though. I do feel a bit weepy for no reason at all. Hope it wears off soon!

becaroo · 05/12/2007 17:48

Yes I had this all last week, its horrid.

Still feela bit out of it (keep going to cupboards and thinking "what am I doing here?" but much better than I was.

Just rest, drink plenty of warm fluids and lots of co-codamol

PirateInaPeartree · 05/12/2007 17:52

erm, yes, me too. Literally standing in the kitchen staring at piles of pressies to wrap/post to go abraod. Then thinking I must sit down.

Is there any point in going to gp? I hate this, ihave so much to do for dd for school too. I cannot concentrate and fear Iam being a boring mummy.

muppetgirl · 05/12/2007 17:53

yes had it for 2 weeks head pounded, no snot but nose ached, neck ached, went hot and cold, shivers etc.

came back for a couple of days as a sore throat now seem fine.

pharmacist suggested steaming to ease nasal passages + sinuses (sp?) parcetomol. dr said nothing he could do.

becaroo · 05/12/2007 18:06

You could go to your GP but I guarantee you he/she will just say "its a virus - nothing I can do" and you will want to kill them and /or weep quietly in a corner of the surgery.

I found out I am expecting last week right in the middle of it, so couldnt take ANYTHING for it and it has left me with an ear infection too

Poor me

PirateInaPeartree · 05/12/2007 21:48

i don't think i will go. The fog has lifted slightly the past hour.

I had this, it has been terrible. Every time I stood up I felt sick and dizzy. Saw the doc who said it was a virus and gave me some tablets for the dizziness and nausea. Thursday night started being sick (as was dd) and spent all Thurs with head down the loo, throwing up and every inch of my body in pain.
Rang my mum on Fri morning sobbing my heart out. She had to come to the house, let herself in, dress dd and dress me. Went to my mums, threw up a bit more, and slept from 11 Fri morning until 8 this morning.
Still feel like shite.

PirateInaPeartree · 08/12/2007 09:32

oh sorry you had such a rough time ELf. I am lucky inthat this hasn't been a sickness one, although I have heard there is one going round.

Hope you improve.

I am STILL dizzy today, so thats 5 days now.

Becaroo - I'm in the same boat, pregnant and I've had it for three weeks so far. I keep waking up feeling like I've got snot in my nose but I haven't and my nose keeps bleeding very slightly. It's irritating more than incapacitating. DD has it too (reckon she gave it me actually). I had the sicky bit too, it seems to come on as a cold, stick around as a fluey thing and then go back to being a low lying infection.

However, the good news is that I think it's probably a few opportunistic infections at once so we'll all be immune for the rest of the season hurrah!

I'm drinking lemon and ginger tea and it helps a bit (even if it tastes like warm sick.)

becaroodolf · 08/12/2007 10:08

whomovedmychocolate....my ds definately gave it to me, he was really poorly for nearly 2 weeks and I had 4 nights of NO sleep with him whch I think made me more velnerable to the infection.

Am a bit worried really, as I had been taking co-codamol an strepsils until I found out I was expecting....

Hope you are feeling better soon...

Elderlymum111 · 11/01/2018 01:49

This bug hit me three weeks ago, sore throat, heavy cold. Slightly bleeding nose, felt weak. Two weeks in the dizzyness kicked in! Passed out in supermarket, now feel really weird , legs like jelly, head like a zombie, really spaced out, like the worst hangover ever but not had a drink other than lemon and honey! Never had anything like this before.

Tantpoke · 11/01/2018 02:07

Yup not only did I have it really badly before Christmas and took up until New Year to nearly fully recover, I am now just recovering from a second bout of it although I'm recovering slightly quicker from it.

lamettarules · 11/01/2018 08:32

Isn't co codamol an opiate? Won't it make you feel even more foggy and woozy ? Not to mention cause constipation to add to your woes ?

Wouldn't paracetamol be just as effective for flu/cold symptoms ?

Vicks30 · 11/01/2018 17:12

It’s the Aussie flu. I got it the weds before Xmas, started with the chills, by Friday I was sneezing non stop, the Saturday my nose was like a tap. Working in retail the Saturday before Xmas was not ideal. I’d gone to work with a fever of 37.9 by the evening it went to 39.9. Manag3d to stay hydrated but was spaced out. Felt like I had tonsillitis again. Which I got on Christmas Eve. Luckily got penicillin for that. Lost my appetite felt dizzy till the Thursday after Xmas. Haven’t even got over it fully still got a slight tingle in my throat. And keep coughing flem every now and then. So that’s 21 days and counting. Only just got my appetite back last Saturday. I called the doctor to run it past them and they said was Aussie flu. Far worse than normal flu. Loads of people I know had it. I was the first then my son and my mum, they got over it quicker.
