Thinking of cutting down to one meal a day during the week to save money - is it safe?

I’m trying to see where we can cut costs and an obvious one is for me to go without breakfast and lunch on weekdays. I know some people deliberately diet this way to lose weight (admittedly I could do with losing a few lbs anyway) but what I’m struggling to find out is whether or not it’s safe to do this in terms of long term health?

There seems to be a lot of conflicting info out there and I’m struggling to find a straight answer.

This method of eating is actually healthy so long as the food you do eat is nutritious and fresh.
Many videos on YouTube about intermittent fasting advocate this as a lifestyle. If you take time to research and do it properly, it can save money and improve your health.

I was sceptical about the assertion that eating three meals a day is down to the influence of the food industry as a couple of posters have said. Certainly a quick google suggests this was primarily brought about as a result of technological developments and changes to working patterns which seem to go back further than a ‘food industry’ as we think of it today. Also, when there was one main meal in the day, it seems in the West at least to have been the midday meal. So, health aside, I’m not sure there is much historical precedent for fitting all your calories into the evening meal. I’d at least want to read up on intermittent fasting before adopting something like this as my routine.

As for the op, I also don’t see how reducing the frequency of meals in and of itself saves money unless she was buying lunches and coffees on the go, which is always a bad idea money-wise.

Hopefully OP was in a bit of a fug with a touch of martyrdom, and is feeling much better now :)

This video is quite long but gives excellent insight into fasting. If the link doesn't work just search 'fasting for survival' on YouTube.
