I managed to roll my right ankle/foot quite badly 15 weeks ago (it went right over to the outside) while walking down a steep hill in an uneven field. I managed to hobble home and suffered from the usual sprain-type pain ever since but it has not improved and has been getting gradually getting worse in the last week, particularly in the last few days - including when my foot is immobile.
It's constantly in pain and aching even when not moving, with mainly lateral pain down the outside of my foot but also spreads around to the inside of foot and top of my foot (where I get a very sharp pain when rotating my foot) and all round my ankle area.
It is tender to the touch and there is some light bruising visible (see photo).
Up until now I was trying to ignore it and assumed it would take a few weeks to heal but it's only getting worse. I sent an e-message to the GP today asking if I need to be seen or whether I should just be more patient, and he's replied saying to use Voltarol and call if no improvement in 7-10 days. I've already tried this, plus ice, resting, gentle exercises, elevation...
Anyone had anything similar? Do I just need to grin and bear it a bit longer?!
