Hand foot and mouth as adult

Has anyone had hand foot and mouth as an adult and any experience?

I’ve had a sore throat for about three days - worst I’ve ever had - and now I have hand blisters and one foot blister. What I really want to know, although I know no-one can really tell me, is whether it’s likely to get worse than this?

I’m currently on holiday and I can cope if it’s not worse than this but any worse and we may need to change our plans.

I’ve fortunately not got any mouth ulcers yet but not sure how quickly the illness tends to develop?

My DS had a very mild version of it, just spots on his chin and bum, didn’t feel unwell with it at all, so really hoping it’s not too bad for me either.

I'm currently suffering with it along with my son, and sorry to say it's got progressively worse. Started with a sore throat, then had a high temp and fever followed buy spots/blisters on my hands and now coming out on my feet too. It's like walking in glass! I am desperate for it to end but after looking through some old posts, looks like I will be suffering for a while longer yet Sad

Sorry to say I had it and it was bloody horrendous. I didn't get bad blisters particularly but my entire mouth was a mass of ulcers and I could barely eat or drink for three days. I even had to use a text to speech app to talk to my husband because speaking was so painful. It was truly horrible and I was amazed a childhood illness could be so nasty. DD thankfully just got some blisters and nothing else and DH didn't get it at all.

However, the ulcers came near the start for me so maybe if you've got this far you've avoided them! DD didn't seem to get any.

I think everyone suffers differently. I caught it as an adult from my Nephew. A few family members got it. I was by far the worst. No ulcers in mouth at all but I was covered in spots from head to toe.. not just hands and feet!! I was so uncomfortable for days and barely slept. My family members all had it mildly in comparison (I was in my 20s and the youngest adult)

Out of interest, what country did you catch it from?. I also caught it on holiday. Feels like I'm walking on glass. Thankfully my throat is a bit better today though

Yup. I was iller than my kids. Really painful mouth and throat. Took weeks to shake it off. They where fine after about 48 hours

@Tuba437 I caught it before going on holiday but didn’t realise until we were here, so just in the UK.

Finally started to feel a bit better today, the sore throat is improving. I think I was fortunate to only get a handful of mouth ulcers though end the ones on my hand/ feet haven’t bothered me too much.
