My toddler is in hospital with a fever of 39.8, a cough and drowsiness/unresponsive. I also have a fever and a cough so DH had to take him in. We are all waiting for covid results. I keep having extreme coughing fits where im coughing so hard that this horrible deep sound comes out and it feels like my chest is ripping open. Im coughing so hard im being sick and my throat and stomach are throbbing from how hard my body is coughing and throwing up empty stomach by this point so it's killing me. Im so worried about my little boy but im getting worried about myself too and I don't know if I need to go in to? I have 5 minute periods after throwing up where im ok but I can already feel the deep in my chest need to cough again and I know in a few minutes I'll be back over the toilet. No nausea just coughing that hard. What do I do im in bits and can't get hold of dh to check on my baby or get help for myself

I hope you and your ds are feeling better.

Hope all is ok 🤞🏼

We've all tested positive including DH who is asymptomatic thank god or I don't know what we'd do. Toddler is home and coping much better as long as we keep his fever controlled, wretched cough though and if temp goes past 40 again we have to take him back in. I stayed home throughout and am battling through but so unwell with it, the cough is like nothing I've had before and my throat and ribs feel torn apart by it. Never felt so ill can't believe how bad I am when I'm double vaxxed, in my twenties with no conditions. Dread to think how bad it would be if I wasn't vaxxed Sad

@Yebbie hope you got the oximeter , reading elsewhere your condition can deteriorate suddenly. You may yet need intervention via NHS

It's an evil virus

AntiSocialDistancer · 08/09/2021 12:45

Yebbie, I'm so sorry you feel so ill. I had a friend who was really ill with it and she needed serious medical attention.

Can you look at getting a oximeter delivered next day?

Call 119 to see if they can help advise with how ill you are.

SirVixofVixHall · 08/09/2021 15:24

I really hope you are feeling better soon OP. My dd and DH have Covid currently, Dd has a bit of a cough but otherwise nothing. DH is double vaxxed and has been pretty unwell, although not as ill as you.

EgonSpengler2020 · 08/09/2021 16:44

Are you taking ibuprofen, if you are normally okay to take it, it will be good for the muscular pain caused by all the coughing and wretching.

Fine to take when you have covid despite initial speculation that it might not be.

I've just bought an oximeter, ordered last Friday and delivered today. It looks to be the same as the ones given out by hospitals to monitor it at home. This one www.nightingale-ppe.com/collections/equipment-devices/products/finger-tip-pulse-oximeter

OP i an so sorry you are going through this. I hope you and your family recover soon. Unfortunitely the vaccine dosn’t prevent you getting the virus, however it will prevent death.

lannistunut · 08/09/2021 20:07

It is a really evil virus indeed, and quite shocking how bad even when double vaccinated. Thank goodness we have the vaccines!

TreeTed · 08/09/2021 20:08

Glad to read your update @Yebbie

Aspiringmatriarch · 09/09/2021 09:59

So glad your toddler is home and hope you're feeling at least somewhat better now. Keep a close eye on it and look after yourself xx
