Ear infection - still painful 5 days in to antibiotics

I was diagnosed last Wednesday as having Otitis Media, it was excruciating painful last week and at one point I screamed and cried out in pain. I was given a course of antibiotics and bought some codeleine for the pain but it barely touches the sides. I am on day 5 of the antibiotics but still having thumping pain radiating from the left ear and in waking up at least 3 times a night to get painkillers and hot water bottle on the ear. Does anyone have a clue how long this takes to go away?

Have they done a swab to see what type of ear infection it is. My DH had to have 3 different types of ear drops before getting better.

It can take 3 days to settle after starting antibiotics, I had an ear infection in January which was excruciating even with panadein forte.

Was expecting 24 hours but took 72, I'd call your GP again
