Vulvitis? Vulval cancer? Not sure whether to get another opinion

I have had itching “down there” for about 6 years now. Sometimes worse than other times. Tonight I noticed bright red shiny skin between the outer and inner labia, both sides of where the clitoris is. Looks shiny and angry. It’s sore if I pull or stretch it. I also get big blister type spots on the inner side of the outer labia, these blisters come to a head and pus and blood comes out. Bit like acne.

No idea what this is. The itching is so irritating. 4 years ago my gp said it was folliculitis, couldn’t see anything sinister. I recently had a smear and the experienced nurse said the area looked normal (she mentioned that some women get lichen sclerosus but she couldn’t see anything that looked like it on me).

I don’t know how to treat this and am worried they’ve missed something sinister. Has anyone has similar and it’s gone away? I can’t see one distinct lump so maybe its not cancer Sad

Sounds like Herpes to me

Lemons1571 · 06/09/2021 20:45

I think the health practice did a swab for infection a few years ago and nothing came up. At that time they put it down to thrush, but I’ve never had discharge and all the thrush treatments have never helped at all.

Am putting cetraben, canestan and hydrocortisone on it twice daily, will give it a week and see if that helps?

Dont you need an active infection to get diagnosed with herpes though?

Have you been to a GUM clinic? This is their area

Sounds very much like herpes which doesn’t often show up on tests unless you’re having an outbreak. Next time it happens, go to a GUM clinic.
