Thing is I am havent been wearing them for about an hour, and I am sooooo dizzy, a woozy spaced out feeling. Like my balance has gone.

that is a bit odd. I did feel a bit wobbly when I had my prescription renewed, but it didn't last more than 30 seconds ...

How are you now?

belgo · 03/12/2007 13:54

it sounds like you could have an ear infection.

yurt1 · 03/12/2007 13:55

new glasses. Happened to me when I last changed mine- they were smaller than the old ones and I had to get used to the new 'side' bits (so there was an outside bit that wasn't magnafied. I thought I was going to pass out in Sainsburys.

BoysAreLikeReindeer · 03/12/2007 13:55

New glasses give me temporary 'vertigo' with the floor sloping orf at an odd angle, usually wears orf after a few minutes.

Perhaps you are brewing an ear infection ?

yurt1 · 03/12/2007 13:56

Oh it took about a week to get used to them, but I wore them for limited time gradullay building up (wearing contacts or my old ones inbetween) as they made me feel so ill!

Jennster · 03/12/2007 14:02

catarrh in ear can make you dizzy (doesn't have to be infected), but my new glasses prescription also make me a bit like the floor is further away than it really is.

PirateInaPeartree · 03/12/2007 14:02

would an ear infection hurt? no pain in ears.

I normally wear contacts, but decided to update my glasses lenses.

Last week they were ready and the prescription has changed a little bit, yet I have slight astigmatism in left ey, so that was in the prescription too.

Yet I saw everything as bowed, and took them back and said they were making me feel sicky. Got them back saturday, minus the 'prescription bit' for the astigmatism correction, Apparently, my brain was not coping with this.

They still seem a bit odd tho. I am not used to wearing glases, but tbh, the lenses that were in them up till last week, altho older, didn't make the world look bowed as much. Would the slight strengthining of the prescription cuase this.

The cold is pretty rotten and I am feeling rough, so thought it was that? Oh yes, ihave also been having panic attacks the past few weeks, might have something to do with that. I swear I am NOT a hypochondriac, I am just adding info to the pot!!!

yurt, is there a good chance i wil get used to them then? I see you swap between contacts and glasses?

I have worn my contacts exclusively for 3 yrs.

You'll get used to it, but I'd wear them in short bursts to begin with. It's probably the unmagnified bit at the side- you don't get that with contacts. It was that that made me feel really ill, but I'm wearing them now and don't notice it at all (vision still better with contacts, but glasses are fine as well, especially when eyes are a bit dry).

PirateInaPeartree · 03/12/2007 14:27

hi, i think i am having a panick attack, have called friend to get dd fromschool. not sure, as have had dizzy things happen few yrs back thatwere put down to migrainous attacks.

Hope you're okay PIP - is there anyone else there to look after you?

runnervt · 03/12/2007 14:43

I often get dizzy when I've got a bad cold which I put down to having catarrh in my ears affecting my balance. New glasses make me dizzy too but probably not for as long.

PirateInaPeartree · 03/12/2007 16:59

def somekind of meltdown. stil feeling detached and exasted. dd back now, just got to keep going till bed time.

Are you ok Pirate? I've just seen this thread again. Is there anyone who can help you?

PirateInaPeartree · 03/12/2007 18:49

hi just came back on, have been posting in lone parents b4 now about these attacks, so don't want to go on about me in this thread. i am feeling less frantic now. I think i have had a mini breakdown of sorts, coupled with exhaustion.

i am going to bed soon. i might go to gp in morning, don't know. my dad popped round thank u.

The dizziness may be part of a bug. I am dizzy and spaced out today and went to GP. She checked ears etc but saw nothing wrong. However she did say there was a flu type bug going round and some suffers have felt dizzy. I feel a bit flu-like and detached as well as dizzy. You might have the same.

belgo · 03/12/2007 18:51

Pirate - certainly go to your GP, and explain how you are feeling.

Hope you get some rest tonight.

PirateInaPeartree · 06/12/2007 10:17

day 4 and still dizzy, def the bug thats goping round.

Dalrymps · 09/12/2007 15:39

ELF1981 · 10/12/2007 13:21

PIP - I had this exact thing.
Started two weeks ago, a headache, dizziness, feeling a bit sick. Went to docs, viral infection.
Thursday just gone, started vomiting.
Friday just gone, mum had to come fetch me and dd as no way could I have coped with her all day by myself, I slept from 10 that Fri morning til 8 the following Sat morning.
Have never been so poorly before.
Still feel weak and horrible.
Hope yours gets better soon.
