L1-L4 transverse process fractures - halp! Any orthopaedics, or anyone else?

Had a bad fall off my horse a couple of days ago, and landed on my back and head.

Went to ED as I was vomiting by this time, and they did CT scans etc. Head was ok - I was of course wearing my riding helmet AND a body protector, but I seem to have fractured L1 throughout L4 vertebrae transverse processes.

They discussed me with orthopaedics, who said I could go home, but would need referral to orthopaedics.

Now - here's where it gets hazy - I was vomiting like a good 'un during my discharge advice from the ED registrar - I'm almost sure I heard him say bed rest the next day, but not how long for?

They are stable fractures, but I'm not sure what or how much I should be doing?

At the moment on day 3 I'm getting out of bed for a potter around, then everything goes into spasm and I have to lie down again. I have a rest, then another potter.

I'll probably get chance to speak to ortho next week, but I'm unsure what I should be doing? The fractures are stable, and I don't want to get a blood clot, so I keep getting up for a limp around?

On the positive side, the concussion is much better 😀 and Thank God I had my body protector and helmet on! My horse was very sorry and looked remarkably sheepish. I'm also a nurse, so when will I be looking at going back to work?

Anyone any thoughts?
