You lot are my last hope. DD has had the runs for the past 3 weeks now following on from a virus she caught at nursery. I took her to the docs and had stool sample taken and the results came back negative. She has no temperature and has a strong appetite.
I have tried starving her for 24 hours and avoiding milk for a couple of days. I have also tried her with the live yoghurts in case that helped. none of these seemed to do the trick.
No-one seems overly concerned other than the nursery who refuse to have her - all the medics seem to think it will clear up in time. As I am single working mum, I can't take much more paid time off work (I think they have been quite nice about the past couple of weeks). Also dd is starting to look quite drawn by the whole thing. Any advice, similar tales?

I'm just getting over about 7 weeks of the same thing, Dilly - they call it post-infectious irritable bowel. I did a stool sample & blood tests (all neg) & saw a consultant gastroenterologist, who said the same as your docs - and it does seem to be clearing up now. No fun for you in the meantime though, and awful for your DD. I do sympathise. Maybe go back to the GP? 3 weeks is a long time for a child.

Thanks..I hope you are feeling better. 7 weeks seems forever. I shall try the GP again.

DS had the same and we ended up going to see a homeopath who gave him some wonder drops - he was back to normal in 4 days. Banana Acidophilus by Biocare is great too.
