TBH this is basically what I already do if confronted with headlice but :

Had the nit nurse in school today because headlice such a problem and a massive amount of 4 parents turned up.

She showed us a video of the bug busting method to get rid of headlice, basically washing, conditioning, combing 3 times a week to get rid of the blighters.

But here's the bit I didn't know you can get bug busting kits on prescription, they consist of a white cape, a wide toothed comb and a thinner comb that are specially designed on an angle with rounded ends so it glides through the hair better.

So get to your gp and get your kits and get combing.

I have never heard of a "minor illness scheme". I have just googled it and my interpretation is that not all PCTs (healthcare areas) do it, could be wrong though and I have seen no direct evidence to see that the Nitty Gritty is included. Again could be wrong though. Always worth a try - let us know how you get on

i always remove lice and eggs from dry hair with my fingers as i find it easier - i'm very lucky as both my kids are blondies and it's very easy to spot them - last week i found one full grown lice on my 2 yr old ds and it had laid about 40/50 eggs - yuck - i feel sure i have them although my dp has checked and said i have none BUT he has never found any even when i have found one myself - bloody useless!
