Lump in armpit with pain and itching

I found a lump in my left armpit a few weeks ago but only if I pushed really hard and I couldn't always feel it so I ignored it. Then a couple of weeks ago I started to get an itching sensation in my left nipple similar to when I was breastfeeding Dd and if she hadn't had a feed in a while. I ignored it, putting it down to hormones or a change in washing powder but it just got worse so I went to see a nurse last week who had a good feel and has referred me to the breast clinic with an urgent referral.

I am in full panic mode now! I have googled everything and have convinced myself it's something terrible, the itching has mostly gone now but the lump feels bigger and now I'm getting pain and a strange pulling sensation from my armpit.

If anyone has had anything similar to this please tell me what your outcome was, good or bad it's the not knowing that's driving me up the wall!

All referrals to the breast clinic are classed as urgent, NHS guidelines state you must be seen within a fortnight, so don't worry about that bit.

I had very similar symptoms recently; in fact said the same as you, that I was reminded (unpleasantly) of breast feeding.
My go referred me as urgent and I saw a specialist who scanned me the same day. They found nothing at all, completely clear.
So try not to think the worst.
Apparently many women are getting swelling in underarm lymph glands after the COVID vaccine.

I had a breastfeeding feeling too in the breast and eventually the nipple started discharging large amounts of fluid. I super freaked out convinced I had the big C, as the doctor arranged a fast appointment at a clinic. Turned out to be a benign papilloma lump in a milk duct which they removed via simple surgery. So not all lumps are bad. Hard not to worry though. I shall be keeping fingers and toes crossed for you. Hugs x

Thank you all it's reassuring to hear that there are a lot of less scary possibilities my appointment's next week so not long to wait but it feels like forever, here's hoping it's good news!

Is it like a boil? If so, I have this regularly and it's called Hydradenitis Supperativa. Very painful but can be kept at bay by some long term mild antibiotics. It can also occur in your groin or under your boob but is most common under your arm.

Obvs get it seen to but I have one that sometimes flares up due to hormones. Sometimes I need antibiotics to mskeit go away (so it's a hair follicle getting infected or something?) It's been that way for ages x

Its like a solid lump deep in my armpit I have to push quite hard to feel it I suppose it could be anything really, I could cope with a boil, that's a better outcome than some I've googled!

Stop googling!
If it’s serious, you’re getting urgent care, and it is much more likely to be non-serious.
Try to remember that most referrals do not find a serious issue x
