Should DS have an extra dose of the polio vaccine...Is it safe?

Before the DTP jabs went thermiserol free we managed to get the mercury free jabs for DS. It took a lot of wrangling and irritation before they agreed to let us have the Infarix (sp?)
However, when we went to get the last lot of Men C we were told that they had chucked out all the old DTP stuff and all the Infarix.
I asked why they hadn't kept some back for us and they retorted that they couldn't be expected to keep notes on what everyone wanted - eh? I thought that was exactly what they had to do?

Anyway, they said our only option was to miss out on the last diptheria, tetanus and pertussis...Or have the new stuff with the added polio.

What do I do...? They told me it was safe for him to have an extra dose of polio, but then they also told me it was safe to have the jabs with the mercury in?

if he's already had polio vaccine, then he should have antibodies to polio, and it shouldn't affect him at all- his body will mount an immune response to the vaccine and destroy the polio material, just like it would if he came into contact with a case of polio. I can't see the problem.

I meant to add- I would be far more worried about him not completeing the DTP course, tetanus and whooping cough are still prevalent and both very nasty diseases to catch.
