Broken nights and exhaustion

I can't remember the last time I slept all night. My sleeping improved once I took up running but even though I run most days it makes no difference now. I also have a walk if at least an hour every day, sometimes twice a day. I'm so exhausted today and while I don't care how I look it makes me sad I'm so tired it is obvious. Has anyone got any ideas for anything I can take to knock me out so I can sleep? Three weeks I nodded off at the wheel of the car and it had terrified me. We were so lucky as it was a very busy motorway. I'm waking twice a night for the loo and struggling to sleep again as well.

Magnesium supplements can really help. Read reviews though as there are quite a few different forms and only some help with sleep. Some find topical supplements ie creams more effective than pills - I think BetterYou does a cream.

I also swear by foam earplugs for helping me get back to sleep in the night - even if there is no noise, somehow they help me switch off.

I am taking a lot of supplements already and will check if any have magnesium in. I stopped one I think did have it in when I started another. I run most mornings but decided to go tonight with dh so that woke me up and I'm hoping It will help me sleep tonight. I'm just so tired and dh said I looked terrible. He wasn't being mean!

My GP recommended Sominex to me (I have horrendous insomnia) as you can buy it OTC - these are some reviews:

Magnesium helps but I think it needs to be a high strength magnesium citrate. I get mine from Amazon.

I run, and it's really much better for you to only run every other day op. You are possibly overtired. Your body needs a day in between to recover. I definitely wouldn't run every day if I was already exhausted.

Melatonin has really helped me.

I feel fine once I'm up and out. It's the afternoons and evenings. Falling asleep while watching tv but if I went straight to bed I couldn't sleep.
