My period has finished. Why am I still getting deadly cramps?

I am having awful cramps. Really debilitating. Yet I’m not bleeding.

My period was only a day and half this month which is very small even by my standards. I usually have it for 3 days.

I am in so much pain. My belly is rock hard, and it feels like someone has put their hand inside and is squeezing my tummy. It also feels like their other hand is in my back.

Any chance of pregnancy?

Soubriquet · 15/08/2021 04:27

No. Grin

Should have said that really. Definitely not pregnant

Have you been vaccinated recently? I had an awful crampy period a week after my second Pfizer.

Soubriquet · 15/08/2021 04:33

No I haven’t had the vaccine yet either.

When you say 'your belly' is the pain higher up below your rib cage (stomach), lower down area just above your pubic bone (gyne) or in the middle kind of all over. Could you be constipated? Do you suffer with IBS flare ups? Sorry I know, straight in with the personal questions. Try drinking a large glass of room temp water and taking pain relief. If it's your intestines, the water will help get things moving. Spasms in the colon can feel a lot like period pain.

Likely, your period is not finished. You are about to pass a clot that is blocking your flow. You are feeling your uterus contracting and maybe even a bit of cervix dilation depending upon the size.

Soubriquet · 15/08/2021 05:15

It’s my uterus that’s cramping but occasionally I get a pain higher up.

Not constipated. Almost wish I was as that would be a problem solver.

I haven’t bled anything since yesterday morning, so I can’t see how my period is still ongoing but I guess we will wait and see

Could you possibly have endometriosis? This causes pain even when not bleeding

Soubriquet · 15/08/2021 06:09

I don’t think so. I don’t normally get pain like this, especially when my period is over
