What should I do about my infected belly button?

My belly button is all red and sore inside, it’s weeping and just generally gross. It’s spreading to the outside too. I will add a pic but fair warning, it’s grim! It hurts when I bend over or sit down. I go away on Monday, can’t decide if I need to see a doctor at a walk in centre tomorrow before I go or if it’ll clear itself up. What should I do? Thanks

Been seen, they’ve cleaned it up a bit and give me anti fungal cream and a week of antibiotics and instructions to be seen while we’re away in the week if it gets worse. We’re only off to another city in the UK so should be ok. It’s reeeeeally sore now.

Glad you saw the doctor as that looks really sore. Hope it doesn't interupt your holiday too much

That looks infected with some thrush too. And you are feeling unwell so yep the two are connected. Looks like some antibiotic topical creme and canesten with some oral antibiotics may be required. Trip to GP. In the meantime give it a good wash with warm tap water and dry it thoroughly. Don't tend to use saline for wound cleansing now as it can upset the skin balance and delay healing. Get some vitamin c and high protein on board to as that will help fight the infection and begin the healing and granulation process.
