Chinese burn type pain on outside of lower leg

I'm overweight and recently started walking regularly for health. But about 10 days in and I have got this strange pain on outside of lower leg, i.e. not calf, not shin but whatever is in between the two. The pain runs down, from just under knee about 2/3 way down and stops above ankle. So not ankle, not knee. It feels like a chinese burn when walking. Anyone had similar?

Could be shin splints.

Any heat, swelling, any redness? It’s probably not , but might be worth being checked for dvt. I had one a few years ago after a Caesarean so am cautious about them.

Thanks

@JaneJeffer do shin splints give you pain on outside of leg?

@Sportsnight no redness or heat, it is only when I do lots of walking but will check out DVT.

It can be either side of the bone. DS gets them from football.

Thanks, I'm going to do some more research and try and see a specialist. Went out today but pain kicked in after about 20 mins so turned back.
