Dental braces - how often do they get tightened?

My DS has got dental braces (the metal train tracks). I had the same ones when I was his age and they got tightened monthly. DS's appointments for tightening seem to be every three months. Is this a normal time frame these days? I'm worried it's too long a gap between appointments and the treatment will take longer.

I had fixed braces about three years ago, and I'm pretty sure they were tightened every three months or so. I think they were tightened more frequently towards the end, but I can't remember exactly!

My DD has just had hers off. Appointments were every 6 weeks.

Appts every 6 weeks but tbh it averaged out about every 3 weeks as ds's teeth moved fast and bits of wires were always poking him. I'm glad we loved so near to the orthodontist.

DD's appointments are every 6 weeks at the moment.

It really depends on the individual's treatment. Mine is every 6-8 weeks but then my total treatment time is 12 months.
