Sore throat with white bumps (not tonsil stones), headaches, conjunctivitis, achey limbs and so tired

Hello

Firstly, I do not think it is covid, my LF test (x2) have been negative. However I’m not completely ruling it out. Luckily I am double vaccinated.

On Monday I developed this conjunctivitis and was very tired. By Tuesday, this was joined by a headache (felt like a tension headache). And today I’ve got achey limbs like I’ve been working out (but I haven’t 😂) and my throat is sore with white bumps (although they aren’t on my tonsils). I’ve been so tired, having four hour naps a day. TMI warning - I have also had foul smelling stools and a slightly upset stomach.

I’m very lucky to have never really been affected by viral illnesses (had tonsillitis once and norovirus once) so I’m not really sure if this is a virus or whatever.

Obviously I’ve been keeping hydrated and taking paracetamol, but is there something going round? How long am I going to suffer for 😂

Yes covid is going round. As are 200 other viruses responsible for cold and flu symptoms. I'd book a pcr test. Delta has different symptoms. Once you have ruled that out you can either carry on with life or see a GP if you need to. LF tests are not reliable

Headache v common with covid btw.

Yep defo book a PCR just to be sure, take regular analgesia, drink plenty fluids and wait it out. Doesn't sound any different to a normal virus. We just aren't used to having them any more!

Thanks guys, as I say I’ve never really got them in the past so kind of out of touch with it 😂

PCR is ordered

When I had conjunctivitis and tonsillitis it was bacterial tonsillitis - same bacteria apparently. It was so miserable, take it easy. If your PCR is negative then talk to the doctor about bacterial tonsillitis / antibiotics (also foul bowels with it!) Flowers

Get some hydrogen peroxide to gargle from boots. If it's bacterial tonsillitis it will oxidise the bacteria and you'll start to feel better quickly.

Have you thought of glandular fever though DS had it and didn't have the sore throat as he has no tonsils and the doctor said it's normal to have no sore throat with it if you don't have tonsils. He had everything else you described though.

Thanks both x

YY to the poster who said tonsillitis, I had an awful dose of it around Christmas and it came with conjunctivitis and an awful flu like feeling. Ended up need antibiotics to get rid of it in the end.

Kids have had tonsillitis since and I've noticed sticky eyes have come with it.

Gakatsbsk · 11/08/2021 19:10

@FairyJuice thanks it does seem somewhat similar (but worse) to the tonsillitis I had as a child

I had tonsillitis back in June. GP wouldn't see me without the neg PCR so good that you have ordered it in case it won't shift x

came on to suggest measles, I have several friends who have caught it recently, if you have not been immunised

Gakatsbsk · 11/08/2021 21:51

@54321nought

Thanks for your reply.

I really hope it’s not measles. It’s sad that measles is returning. I am fully vaccinated.
