Suggestions for family outings after surgery

Hi all, just got out of hospital after surgery for breast cancer, including reconstruction which meant abdominal surgery. I'm very aware that DS, who is 10 years old has had a miserable summer so far as we were self isolating for a month (long story) prior to me going in to hospital. I'd like to do a few fun things as a family but I'm quite limited in how far I can walk. So far I have only come up with a trip to the cinema. I have a very supportive partner and DD is 19 so both will help. Any ideas?

Do any outdoor attractions near you offer mobility scooters for hire? Whereabouts in the country are you and we might able to offer some suggestions (or ask on the UK Travel forum).

Hi, I am in the South East, in Surrey. Hadn't considered mobility scooter...what a good idea, thanks.

Sorry, not a part of the country I know to recommend specific places. Definitely worth investigating or you can hire normal wheelchairs from the Red Cross.

Delayed thought…….do you have a steam railway nearby?

I definitely think the idea of borrowing a scooter is a good idea.

Also, is there anything like an ice-cream/pudding place that would be a proper treat for a ten year old? We have a place in town that solely sells puddings and it was definitely have been my fantasy restaurant aged 10.

I'd also look at bigger attractions. A bit counter-intuitive but they are quite likely to have their own things like mobility scooters compared to smaller places.
