DD is 4 and for the past 3 weeks has had a sensation of urgency to do a poo but quite often when she gets there produces nothing or only a tiny bit. This has been happening 10–20 times a day. She's always been very regular and I'm quite sure it's not constipation that's the cause.
She has also complained of intermittent tummy pain but is vague when I ask her to point to where and it's never severe enough to stop her playing or enjoying herself.
I spoke to a GP at the surgery on Friday who has requested a stool sample which we'll do tomorrow morning.
This evening DD had a hair in her mouth she couldn't get so I was trying to find it using my phone torch to get it for her and realised she's got multiple sores in her mouth and it's set alarm bells ringing that arrows are pointing towards IBD although so far I've seen no sign of blood or mucus in her stools.
I have ulcerative colitis so obviously am acutely aware that this is not a good diagnosis if this is what it is.
I wish the GP had requested bloods so that inflammation markers etc. could be checked but obviously he wants to rule out a bug first but now that I've seen the mouth sores I'm worried and I feel impatient and that we might have a very long few weeks of jumping through hoops to find out what's going on. I don't know whether I should push for more action or just do the stool sample and wait for it to come back before speaking to the GP again.
