Hiya
I had this when I was 15. Was given tablets, and it seemed to be ok then. Very painful though!

Keep an eye on it, if it gets worse try to see your doctor.

I also get any sort of severe sore throat checked out - just in case.

lexcat, please please keep a VERY close eye on this, my mum had this very badley, she thought she just had a bad sore throat till it got to the stage where she couldnt even swallow water, my dad called out the doctor and he phoned the hospital from her house and got them ready for her, she had it drained but the doctor said it was so big that is was ready to pop and if it had of popped it would of poisoned her whole system, she spent 3 days in hospital on a drip, if it gets at all worse PLEASE go to your local A&E

My sister had a bad one about 20 years ago and ended up in hospital.

My dh has had 2 in the last 2 years and with the 2nd one was in crying in agony and went to a and e in the middle of the night. If it becomes very bad, get yourself to a and e, but hope you've caught it early enough so that the drugs work quickly.
