Does anyone take colofac for IBS? Please advise!

Dh has IBS and is having a pretty bad flare up at the moment. He gets Buscopan and Colofac on prescription, which keep it under control but he's now run out and was given Mebeverine instead of Colofac- he can't take Mebeverine as it has lactose in it and nowhere has Colofac in stock as apparently there is a manufacturer supply problem with it.
I just wondered if anybody else in different parts of the country are having the same difficulties and if anybody can recommend anything to replace Colofac. Pharmacies haven't been much use, just tell him to contact GP and he hasn't managed to get an appointment yet.
TIA (fingers crossed)

Can't get Colofac here either (Nuneaton, Warks).

I found a low GI diet helped mine, but I like my 'bad' food too much! Gluton for punishment me!

I was prescribed colofac years ago before my coeliac disease (allergic to gluten) was discovered. It made me slur and feel disorientated. Can your dh get a diagnosis on the foods he is allergic to?
