DD (3) was out of sorts yesterday pm and had restless night, waking and being unable to sleep again, complained of sore throat so had ibruprofen. Woke this morn without sore throat but is quite hot. the odd thing is her head isn't very hot at all but her body and arms and lesg are burning up. just took temp and it's 40C so have given maximum dose of paracetomol. will watch and see if this brings temp down but was just concerned about odd temp of legs etc. thanks

40c is quite high. Speak to your GP and ask them if you think you should take her in.

I am no health professional though!

Thats strange, never heard of that before. 40c of very high, if it hasn't come down in a hr I would ring GP.

Hope she is feeling better soon

Think you are meant to contact the doctor with a temp of 40 or over in an under 4 year old? Perhaps give her some ibuprofen as well to try and get her temp down?

eleanorsmum · 26/11/2007 08:13

thats what i thought jodie. i'm waiting till nine to call gp and then will try and get her in. i have to go today for test results so if they can't fit her in i'll switch my appointment to hers!

ok just checked dd temp again and its come down to 38C. she's perked up a little too and wants to go out to the library as we'd planned to! she's currently sat at kithcne table stenciling xmas cards. so not too poorly then. was worried for a bit. these things are sent to try us!

Thats good news, I would keep her topped up with calpol today just to be on the safe side, it cant do any harm.

well just back from docs after very high temp all day - she's got tonsilitis. friend round here thoguht chicken pox as it's going round her pre-school. now on amoxil antibiotics and calpol every 4 hours.

btw why is it that kids perk up when you get to the docs! her temp was lower and she wanted to play! having spent all day on sofa whining and needing me lots! mmmmm kids! but at least she's genuinely ill!
