Ongoing nausea and now diarrhea - what could it be?

I’ve been feeling poorly for a good few months and would really like to know what, if anything, my doctor should be looking into.

The ongoing symptoms are almost constant nausea. This started 6 days after my first covid jab (AZ) but as the initial side effects from that had gone by then and all medical professionals since have dismissed it as a possible cause I don’t think it can be that.
The nausea disappeared for about 10 days, then came back for a couple of weeks. Most recently I had thought it was gone, but 8 days later it is back with a vengeance (started 30 mins after a full body massage but still going on today, 24 hours later).

Over time I developed ongoing headaches too, and with the vision issues I’ve been having for a year I was referred for a brain MRI. This has thankfully come back as all ok, as have the accompanying blood tests (incl liver bone tests, FSH, LH, ESR, full blood count, thyroid function, urea/electrolytes).

I have had daily diarrhea for the last month, but for a couple of months before that I had episodes of loose poo followed by more normal ones. Sometimes this is completely liquid, sometimes bright yellow. No obvious signs of blood. I don’t have much pain/bloating/cramps though. I’ve been tested for stool infection but that’s just come back negative, so my GP has advised a QFIT test to check for blood.

I’ve realised I do tend to catastophise, and have started online CBT for health anxiety. I would love to believe all my symptoms are anxiety related but there is no let up and I’m in that horrid cycle of worrying about my symptoms and therefore still feeling ill (if it is anxiety).

At the risk of triggering my health anxiety further, is there anything I can be pushing the GP to investigate?

We’re away on holiday for a week from tomorrow so it will be interesting to see how I feel then...

Oh and just to say, the nausea first started in March if that makes any difference. I had 10 days feeling ok in late May/early June, then it came back. Most recently I’ve been ok for a week (nausea wise at least, the other end is another matter!) but feeling sick as anything since last night.

Nausea might be caused by anxiety.

Headache and nausea could be migraine.

Maybe the bowel issues are IBS or diverticulitis.

Have you been checked for coeliac?

danadas · 17/07/2021 23:06

Worth a check for coeliac as above.

Gall stones

Feel like I could have written this. I've been really poorly and it's not like me to have what I've had. It worsened significantly after changing my glasses last week, and has lessened in severity since I stopped wearing the new specs, but my eyesight has been weird for over a year.

No MRI, here. If the optician can't resolve things next week, then I've got to see the doctor.

Nothing useful to add, just some solidarity

Thanks everyone.
@SisterMonicaJoansHabit I’ve read that it can take a while to get used to new glasses, perhaps your issues are in part related to that? My vision issues turned out to be probably related to insufficient tear film - dry eyes. So I’m taking cod liver oil, trying to drink more water and putting hot towels on my eyes twice a day.
