i am so confused at the moment we have been ttc for a while we are using cbfm at the moment im cd 20 iv not yet ovulated and i started bleeding yesterday my cycles are normally 28-30 days so this is odd. my lmp was also very light in comparison to normal af's.
it started with spotting two days ago, blood stained discharge yesterday and today ive been bleeding whn i wipe!
went to see gp as i am sooo confused she tried her hardest to reassure me that everything is ok but i have come out of the drs non the wiser she basically said i could be pg i could be miscarrying it could be neither she felt my stomache and has had a sample to send off for a pg test, even though i tested after the abnormal bleeding and got bfn she told me to relax try not to think about it and the results should be in tues however if the bleeding worsens or i get lower pain im to go to out hours drs or a&e
been so tearfull, was she just safe gaurding herself?

Hi.

I'm not a Dr or a medical person. I had spotting on days 18 and 20 or so of my cycle. I was also worried and went straight to GP for a smear test. Waited till day 30, did pregnancy test and got positive result. Turned out to be implanatation bleed and am now 26 weeks pregnant. Please try not to worry. It is probably too early for you to get a postive pregnancy result. You did the right thing in getting checked out. Whatever happens, it is not your fault. Just try to relax (i know, easier said than done).

Your GP isn't 'safeguarding' herself to protect herself, its more a case of it could be early pregnancy, could be a m/c (sorry), could just be a little innocent bleeding and you may soon be looking at the Mothercare catalogue!

NB: I couldn't relax until my 22 week scan and was told that all was well. Is this your first pregnancy? It's mine and its all a new experience.

I hope this helps.

The GP is right. It's impossible to know at this stage. I've bled and then miscarried. I've bled and continued a pregnancy. Sometimes the bleeding is at the time when your period might be. Some women have monthly periods right through a pregnancy and don't know they're pregnant until very late on.

If you haven't yet ovulated it's probably too early to say. But do try to take the doctor's advice and relax and try not to think about it. I have never known the extent to which worrying can make things physically worse but in some cases it may do.

thanks for replying, its not my first pg have a dd and had threatened mc with her, think im more concerned that its an unexplained bleed 1 1/2 weeks before period is due!
im finding it very hard to relax with dd 18mo although i slept most of yesterday and all night feel kind of washed out as if iv got low iron levels.
returning to gp tues for results hoping she will try find out about the bleeding as this is abnormall for me
feeling better today less stressed anyway!

Hmm, feeling washed out - sounds like early pregnancy (especially as you already have an 18 month old to look after). Lets just wait and see what the doctor says. I'm glad you had a sleep. Keep us posted.

I had a period on cd17 last month - 11 days early and I'm normally 27/28 like clockwork (have been for 20 odd yeras apart from pg).

I spoke to my gynae - he said forget about it as these things happen. I am now on cd 20 and hoping cycle has returned to normal. Could just be one of those things!

Good luck with ttc. Will be joining you soon!

well the sample the dr tested was bfn! was expecting it really she not concerned in slightest!
dingdongbelgianbunsonhigh was your next cycle as per normal?

it could have just been too early to tell as she sent the test cd 20
