DP told me this morning that he hasn’t been feeling well for the last couple of days. I didn’t think anything of it, just thought it was football related alcohol catching up with him. Anyway he’s got worse throughout the day, he’s got stomach pain, fever and he’s been sick several times this evening. I don’t think it’s food poisoning as I’m fine so I’m assuming a stomach bug, but he never gets that type of illness and he’s not one to complain when he gets flu etc, he just powers on through, but this has really floored him. He’s in bed with a hot water bottle now but he really looks awful, shivering and drenched in sweat and he’s said earlier that he doesn’t care if he misses the football tomorrow so he must be feeling REALLY bad! Sorry for such a stupid post I’m just sat downstairs with the baby worrying that he might actually have something serious but talking myself out of doing anything because I really don’t want to waste anyone’s time with the current covid situation.

You could call 111 for advice.

christyt114 · 10/07/2021 23:48

I think he should take a check covid test. Fever and stomach problems can be symptoms.

In the meantime he needs to keep drinking tiny sips of water and take paracetamol.

Phone 111 if still worried.

3luckystars · 10/07/2021 23:49

Well he should see a doctor, he might have an infection or something else going on. You are not wasting anyone’s time.
Is there anyone you could call tonight to arrange for him to be seen by a doctor?

Neolara · 10/07/2021 23:50

He should take a covid test tomorrow.

Dementedswan · 10/07/2021 23:51

If call for advice. It could be appendicitis.

StormcloakNord · 10/07/2021 23:53

You're never wasting time. 111 is for advice - it's literally what it's there for.

Phone, see what they think. It could be anything and I'm sure you'd rather you did something about it than not if it were to be serious.

icecreamgirl94 · 11/07/2021 00:05

Thanks everyone, I’ll call 111. I’ve been googling like an idiot even though I know every result will just tell me he’s dying 🤦🏻‍♀️
I did wonder about appendicitis but then thought I was just being dramatic, and I didn’t realise these could be covid symptoms so thank you to the posters who mentioned that.
I’ve just been to check on him again and take him some water, I’ve asked about his symptoms but all he can tell me is it hurts! I’m a massive emetophobe so I’m constantly terrified he’s going to be sick again!
Thank you for replying, I really appreciate it.

Has he been drinking in the last few days? Could be pancreatitis which has those symptoms.

Valhalla17 · 11/07/2021 00:12

And these arent Covid symptoms. He doesnt need a test....

icecreamgirl94 · 11/07/2021 00:33

@Valhalla17 alcohol? Not since the last England match on Wednesday night. He’s drunk more than usual over the last couple of weeks but never been drunk as we’ve had our baby with us.

OP posts:
Mammyloveswine · 11/07/2021 00:40

He clearly has a fever so def needs a Covid test! Ffs!

Valhalla17 · 11/07/2021 00:41

If he had a bit of a binge of alcohol then pancreatitis can show up 12 - 24hrs later...but if last drank on Weds then it's probably not that and a bug instead. The sweating and shivers is normal to get fever down but if you're very worried a call to 111 will help just check the symptoms etc. He needs to keep hydrated. Sounds horrid, hope he feels better soon

icecreamgirl94 · 11/07/2021 00:58

@Valhalla17 thank you so much. He’s asleep at the moment so I’m going to try and get some sleep too, hopefully he won’t have a rough night.

111 didn’t seem to concerned, said it sounded like a stomach bug and to keep him hydrated. All he can tell me is he feels so sick and he has the worst pain ever in his belly that’s shooting through to his back. I’ve given him a hot water bottle for his back and belly, a bucket and I keep bringing him water but I feel a bit helpless otherwise. I slept downstairs with the baby as I don’t want either of us to catch this but I feel bad leaving him on his own when he’s so unwell. I heard him throwing up a few times in the night so I don’t think he’s slept much either. Has anyone ever had a stomach bug this bad and how long did it last?

Footle · 11/07/2021 11:10

You can have pancreatitis without having drunk alcohol.

Pinknoise · 11/07/2021 11:13

Fever = Covid test. At least rule it out.

RoseAndGeranium · 11/07/2021 11:14

Definitely a COVID test. The person I caught it from presented in exactly this way.

Challengerice · 11/07/2021 11:15

When did he have his vaccine?

Totally my after effects

3luckystars · 11/07/2021 11:24

Can he jump up and down on one leg?

3luckystars · 11/07/2021 11:25

What you are describing is not a stomach bug.

3luckystars · 11/07/2021 11:26

Could he have a gall stone or appendicitis?

icecreamgirl94 · 11/07/2021 11:31

I am getting him a covid test, definitely not ignoring that possibility. @RoseAndGeranium I had no idea it could present like that. Thank you.
@Challengerice he had his first dose a month ago. He’s 27.
@3luckystars I doubt it, he hasn’t been able to leave his bed since 8pm last night. Why do you ask? What makes you think it’s not a stomach bug? I’m not having a go at you I just need to know what I’ve said that makes you think it’s not that.

OP posts:
3luckystars · 11/07/2021 11:56

It’s just if he can’t jump up and down on one leg then it is quite possibly appendicitis. If he has been sick for days and then developed the temperature and then being very sick in his stomach then that sounds more like an infection than a stomach bug. It sounds like he is getting worse not better.
I would get him checked out by a doctor today. Have you any dioralyte that you could give him for hydration?

I hope he is on the mend soon.

3luckystars · 11/07/2021 11:57

Also the pain in his back.

icecreamgirl94 · 11/07/2021 12:53

@3luckystars thank you so much for all your information, I really appreciate it. Asking him to jump up and down definitely isn’t an option at the moment but I’ve tried to have a look at him. His belly looks a bit swollen but then he has been sick a hell of a lot since yesterday evening. He won’t let me touch though as it’s hurting too much. I can’t get through to my doctor until 1 o’clock when I’ll probably get stuck in a queue for ages which isn’t ideal but I think he definitely does need to see someone. From what I got from him yesterday he’s been filling a bit off colour since Thursday but the pain and feeling sick didn’t start until yesterday. I only have water to give him so depending on what the doctor says I’ll pop to the chemist to get him something. Not sure I should really leave him on his own at the moment though.
