DP told me this morning that he hasn’t been feeling well for the last couple of days. I didn’t think anything of it, just thought it was football related alcohol catching up with him. Anyway he’s got worse throughout the day, he’s got stomach pain, fever and he’s been sick several times this evening. I don’t think it’s food poisoning as I’m fine so I’m assuming a stomach bug, but he never gets that type of illness and he’s not one to complain when he gets flu etc, he just powers on through, but this has really floored him. He’s in bed with a hot water bottle now but he really looks awful, shivering and drenched in sweat and he’s said earlier that he doesn’t care if he misses the football tomorrow so he must be feeling REALLY bad! Sorry for such a stupid post I’m just sat downstairs with the baby worrying that he might actually have something serious but talking myself out of doing anything because I really don’t want to waste anyone’s time with the current covid situation.

@neonorchid oh really? He hasn’t said anything about being able to watch it but I’ll keep my fingers crossed for him.
Thank you everyone, I let him know he has well wishers on Mumsnet 🙂 He said “I can’t believe you told people on the internet I was crying over a bellyache” 🤦🏻‍♀️ He’s very grateful to you all as well.
I just want him back now so I can give him the biggest cuddle.

Yes Sajid Javid announced the football will be free for those who can watch it in hospital tonight. Hopefully your DP will be up to it.

Glad it all turned out ok, OP. You can relax a bit now Thanks

If you're East Yorkshire way on he should be able to watch it for free 😁

WrongKindOfFace · 11/07/2021 20:19

I’m so pleased he’s doing ok now and I hope he has an easy recovery.

JacquelineCarlyle · 11/07/2021 20:20

So pleased he got sorted in time - scary stuff Op but glad he's ok.

icecreamgirl94 · 11/07/2021 21:05

@neonorchid we’re not in Yorkshire but he is watching it 😁 Kinda wishing he wasn’t as he can’t celebrate without hurting himself though.

Could be kidney stones. Horrendously painful and the only time I have puked in last 20 years. Worse than labour pains. Pain was in my back mainly and it was excruciating. Eventually passed the stone and the relief was amazing.

Elune · 11/07/2021 21:08

Sorry, my thing hadn't updated! Glad he's on the mend!

I'll glad he's getting to watch it! It's quite a game 😁

SisterMonicaJoansHabit · 11/07/2021 21:11

Poor thing! I hope he recovers from surgery well and is back soon asap.

DecorChange · 11/07/2021 21:21

Wishing him a speedy recovery too. Don't be hard on yourself either you wasnt to know. He'll be back before you know it.

HalzTangz · 11/07/2021 22:26

I would take him straight to a and e, what you describe is exactly how I felt when my appendix ruptured

Thank you so much everyone, honestly I really appreciate this thread, you’ve all been so supportive and stopped me from having a full on meltdown!
He’s coming home later this morning! I can’t wait to have him back and give him a (gentle) squeeze. I just feel really bad that my dad had to basically abandon him in the hospital with strangers while he was in agony and he hasn’t seen anyone he knows since. I wish I could’ve been with him to hold his hand.
God I’m so bad at dealing with stuff like this! I just can’t stop thinking about how ill he was, I had to change the bed sheets last night as they were literally soaked through with sweat! Sorry for the rant post, I’m sure I’ll be fine once he’s back here with me. Thanks again everyone ❤️

@Mummyof2happyboys

So my partner is a 100% narcissist no exaggeration , always has to be right , racist , verbally abusive , will tell you to shut up when you defend yourself and now for the first time threw a pair of scissors at me , which has given quite a large wound … looking like it’s getting infected .. don’t want to go to the doctors as I know they will ask questions … I also don’t want any trouble around my children (p.s this was when they was in bed ) … anyway I can treat this at home
I'm so sorry you're going through this. I wouldn't like to say about treatment at home. I honestly think you need a GP to take a look.

I'm pleased to hear he's coming home later today. My family member was surprisingly in good form when they were discharged. I wish your OH a speedy recovery.
3luckystars · 12/07/2021 12:29

That’s great news, I’m so glad he is in the mend now. Keep an eye on him with regards the antibiotics after he is discharged, if there is any more fever or he starts getting worse at any stage, bring him straight back to the hospital. No questions. He is obviously very good at trying not to worry you but he needs to be honest about his recovery now because the last thing you need is for an infection to set in. It sounds like it was fairly bad. Great now though that he has had the surgery and is on the mend.

Take care and give him our best wishes.

Icecreamgirl94 's dad is a 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟man.
If you've never seen it before, it's hard to know what to do or when it's truly "that bad."
Hope he recovers fast now, OP.

icecreamgirl94 · 12/07/2021 17:33

@neonorchid thank you so much! He seems on pretty good form too, tired and his belly’s sore but a lot lot better than he was. I’ve given him lots of TLC this afternoon and he’s currently asleep on the sofa with the baby. Such a relief to see him looking comfortable again 😊
@3luckystars thank you so much, you’ve sent such lovely messages through this and given loads of helpful info, I really really appreciate it. I’ve had a go at him for trying to hide how bad it was so as not to worry me, but to be fair to him he’s genuinely never had a stomach bug in his life before so he didn’t really know it wasn’t meant to feel that bad. He said he didn’t start to think anything was really wrong until yesterday lunchtime when he felt like he’d been stabbed and he couldn’t stop himself crying from the pain but by then he couldn’t think straight to tell me he needed help 😭
@lljkk thanks, I’ll let my dad know you said that! 😂 He is pretty awesome generally but he outdid himself yesterday! He’s never had any experience of appendicitis either but said he knew it must be serious when he saw the state DP was in. (DP is 6 foot 2, strong and looks a bit like Harry Kane so to see him curled up crying in pain is terrifying). Doctor could feel how swollen his appendix was just from putting his hand on his stomach! Dad called in earlier and I’ve never seen DP hug someone so tight so I think he realises how serious it was!
Anyway, thank you so much for all the support and well wishes. I know in the grand scheme of things it’s not that serious but it’s still bloody scary when it happens!
