Does radiotherapy stop your periods?

Does anyone know?

Very close friend just finished a 6 weeks course of radiotherapy, she hasn't had a period since it started and for obvious reasons she's now paniking. She doesn't need to be pregnant at the moment!

She is seeing her dr on Monday but just wondered if anyone knew if it could be down to the radiotherapy.

She won't go and get a test!

I'm fairly certain that radiotherapy can stop your periods.

But so can high levels of stress and Body weight. Both of which I am sure your friend could have suffered with.

To be honest she needs to get things checked.

Maybe you could buy the test for her? She needn't look at it atall?

it must be very difficult for her. Hope her GP is good.

You are right about the sorting it, I think she want's to wait until she see's the dr on Monday before she does a test. (not sure personally I could wait)

It could of course be stress, she has been through a major op and has 3 young boys.

Oh the poor thing.

I kind of hope it is the radio therapy. Soundslike the last thing she needs at the moment. Plus all the worry about what the radiation might have done.

I really do think it will be her body responding to the radiotherapy and the stress of what she has been through.

Hope her Doctor can put her mind to ease. Might be a good idea to suggest that she does a test befor she goes to the doctors maybe in the morning befor she goes. That way what ever the result she can discuss it with her doctor. Or take the test at the doctors.

Hope she is ok and recovering now.
