I have a 2.8 year old sone who has a condition that dictates that he often has to take steriods and other maedications that he does not want to take.

How do you manage to give them, as I am really struggling with this.

His steriods are disolvable, so I do this in a minimal amount of water and use a siringe straight in to his mouth - they taste awful, but he really needs them.

Also when he is really under the weather we use an inhauler, which as he has not sleep for the last 48 hours is a fight aswell.

He is so string willed that even getting calpol and other nice tasting stuff in, is a no no at the moment.

Any ideas - please help. I am frazzled as I have sleep about 3 hours in the last 48 and DH can not get away from work today as he is with a client.

when dd1 had to take steroids, we dissolved in a small amount of water then add a dash of juice.

with the inhaler and spacer we made a big game of it, giving it to everyone, including Po the teletubby(Po also got bandaged for a while), and then giving it to dd1.

she has been medicated since she was under a year, and it does get easier, honestly.

dd1 had severe eczema, allergies and asthma. she would happily take piriton (at night to help stop the itching) so we told her she could have that one after her other anti-biotics.

another thing we did was ask her to hold a cup of her favourite drink, and ask to to take a sip of that after each medication given.

Thanks Misdee - what I find hard is that I have been doing this since he was 4 months old and is actually getting harder, especially when both he and I are so tired.

I am much less tolerant at the moment, espeically when he pushes DS2 or lashes out at him
