Will sinus infection go away on it’s own?

I think I may have a sinus infection (not sure if viral or bacterial) ..I had a cold which got better and now I feel much much worse, face / tooth pressure and pain, bright yellow when blow nose, nausea and general crap feeling. I think I have a fever but no thermometer but I feel chills and hot.

I’m 17 weeks pregnant and really don’t want to take antibiotics..I’ll call GP tomorrow and take their advice but wondered if it would get better even if it is bacterial.

Speak to the pharmacist about whether you could have an over the counter nasal spray. The standard hayfever ones have a low dose steroid in them which are very good for sinus infections (I've used them myself for that!). But definitely check with them first - from memory I was fine to use when pregnant.

If not, Sterimar or one of the sea-salt nasal sprays are also good and I believe safe to use.

Good luck!

They can do but I would get it checked out, especially with the potential fever. Hope you feel better soon, it's a horrible feeling.

If your snot is bright yellow it'll be bacterial. It might get better on its own but your immune system is a bit rubbish during pregnancy so I'd be getting checked out. FWIW people take antibiotics in pregnancy all the time without issue - I had some for a UTI at about 12 weeks with my first.

Check out spirulina for sinusitis (tablets or powder) but also check it’s ok in pregnancy
