She's got a cold, have given her Calpol, but she won't sleep for more than 10 minutes at a time.

Oh she's 8 months.

Is 35.4 normal temp?

errr, normal as far as i know is 37.
maybe try again - where did you take it? under arm with digital thermometer works best with my DC
forehead thermometers are cr@p
mum knows best - look at her behaviour, wheterh giving her a kiss you think her face is hot, etc.

gigglewitch · 21/11/2007 23:53

w#@/# i meant WHETHER. sorry!

Sushipaws · 22/11/2007 00:00

I use a digital thermometer, in her ear.

I just took it again in the other ear and got 35.8.

I'm a paranoid mummy so she's probably ok but just feel her skin is cool and her cold is quite bad.

My youngest son have temperature like that when sleeping. Especially if ill and I have given calpol and nurofen. Just monitor her overnight. It will probably raise again by 4 am. His usually peaks then.

Sushipaws · 22/11/2007 00:10

Thanks QS, I will.

What's she wearing?

35.4 is a low temperature. Give NHS Direct a call, see what they say.

Sushipaws · 22/11/2007 00:14

She's wearing a short sleeve vest and a sleepsuit with a 2.5 tog grobag. The room is 19 - 20 degrees.

She seems to be sleeping ok just now, if she wakes up again and her temperature is still low I'll call NHS.

Can you put a cellular blanket over her?

QuintessentialShadow · 22/11/2007 00:16

Your body temperature drops when sleeping, and you have given medicine to lower body temperature. I dont think she is wearing that much if her grobag is only 2.5 tog and no blanket on top.

Sushipaws · 22/11/2007 00:18

yeah I've got one, I'll go put it on her now.

I didn't even think of putting that on her. I thought her fleecy blanket would be too hot though.

How is she this morning, Sushipaws?

Sushipaws · 22/11/2007 09:27

Morning.

What a horrible night.

Ended up having her in bed with me, as it was the only way she would sleep. I have a sore throat today so I assume she's had it too. She has no lack of energy this morning, she's crawling at top speed and seems quite happy, still a bit snotty though.

Emergency appointments at my doctor are not available till 11 am, so I'll see how she is then.\

Thanks for your help last night.

Poor lamb - hope she's over the worst of it - and hope you feel better very soon too. There's lots of horrible things going round atm - seems earlier than usual.

QuintessentialShadow · 22/11/2007 10:07

Good to hear she sounds a little better.

frostythesnowmum · 22/11/2007 10:08

normal temp so don't worry.
