REally painful nipple

My right breast is agony atm - the nipple is really hurting. There is a hard bit next to the nipple bit, with a white tip, feels like a swelling or something, and it is AGONY. I will go to the GP on Thursday if it is no better, but just wondered if anyone had any suggestions. I'm not b/feeding atm, but only stopped in late August, after 16 months of feeding, so am wondering if it could either be related to that, or be something hormonal, or an infection? Any ideas? Thanks!

sounds like a spot? could it be a bite or something? Blind spots can be really painful and in the nipple area, well, thats gotta hurt! Blocked milk duct? Wasnt THAT long ago you stopped feeding in the scheme of things hope you feel better soon. Maybe take some neurofen in the meantime.

Thanks lucyellensmum - it is really painful! I will find some nurofen for this evening, and see what happens.

That really does sound like a blocked milk duct....you could try warm compresses on it..
