I had a thread a while ago but can’t find it, and as I name change regularly I can’t remember which name it was posted under.
Dd had a concussion and whiplash injury 3 years ago, and has since had headaches, neck pain, spasms, blurry vision.
She recently had an MRI (they were checking for brain damage/compromised blood flow at the back of her head), and it’s come back clear.
The GP has said it must be muscular.
Dd has had physio, osteopathy, has been on the usual paracetamol, nurofen, heat, ice.
Has progressed on to cocodamol and naproxen.
None of these have made a difference.
She was then put on amitriptyline, which helped her sleep and eased the headaches, although she still has them and still has neck pain a regular spasms/electric shock type pain through her body.
Her symptoms are very similar to a description of occipital neuralgia, but the gp now seems confident that it’s muscular, even though nothing she’s done has helped.
I don’t really know what to do now.
Another side to it is that dd has mental health issues. She’s waiting for an autism assessment, has an eating disorder (which is improved right now), OCD traits, anxiety, depression.
So many people point out that her constant pain could be down to this, which I agree is entirely possible, but no one knows how to help. She’s rubbish at helping herself. She’s on fluoxetine.
