Cough & hives

Ds2 (7) has been under the weather for about 10 days. Not that bad as he has been at school. The usual stuff - slight sniffle, slight cough, bit pale.

Yesterday he came home from school and started really coughing and couldn't stop. It sounds like a coldy cough iykwim - slightly loose, but not chesty. He complained he had an itchy back. When I looked he had what almost looked like blisters all over his back. Some were circular patches. By 8pm it was over tops of legs, arms, back, chest and even a few on his face. He had a temp of 38.5. I thought it may be hives, so gave piriton. I was convinced he'd be off school today, but woke up and said he was fine and wanted to go to school.

Same thing has happened tonight, although he has more of a cold now. Can you come out in hives from a cold/cough? I'm pretty sure that's what it is. He isn't allergic to anything - has a wheat free diet due to an intolerance.

I don't know what it is, but bizarrely I have the same thing. Have been coughing for a few days, and yesterday blossomed out in hive like blotches all down my legs. This morning it had spread further, and itches like crazy - antihistamines have helped though. Can't think of anything that I might have come in contact with to get this sort of reaction.

At least he's not alone! Do your blotches not go away with piriton? Can't think if anything ds2 has come into contact with either.

They aren't as bad as they were, but def still there. I idly scratched my wrist just now and a big red patch has blossomed.
